Colocation and server housing in iX 08/26

Colocation and server housing
The discussion over digital sovereignty is leading to a shift away from US-based clouds and a massive expansion of data centres in Germany and Europe. A large proportion of the additional space being created is to be used flexibly for colocation.
In doing so, hosting providers are increasingly employing techniques they have adopted from the hyperscalers. AI hardware and software can also be sourced from Germany as a service, for example in the form of GPU servers or pre-configured LLM stacks.

The iX extra topic special is published seven times a year as a series of articles focusing on industry, storage, hosting, cloud computing, and security.
